Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, was founded by king Menelik II in 1887. It is located at the altitude of 2400 m above sea level. It boasts several known museums, the best of which are the National museum, which has a copy of famous Lucy, a fossil of a female Australopithecus Afarensis, which is dated 3.18 million years, and the Ethnographic museum, at the premises of the Addis Ababa University.
Several beautiful churches can be visited by tourists on our day tour. One of the churches is the St. George Cathedral, built by the order of king Menelik II in 1898 to commemorate his victory at the battle of Adowa. Another interesting church to visit is the Holy Trinity Cathedral, where Emperor Haile Selassie and other members of the royal family are buried.
Full day tour begins with an excursion to the Entoto mountain, where tourists can enjoy panoramic view of Addis Ababa, visit the old house of King Menelik II, and buy some souvenirs at the Shirо Meda market. Full day tour also includes a visit to the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and drive around Addis Ababa to see historic parts of the city, it’s monuments, old and new buildings and squares. Also included is a lunch in the traditional Ethiopian restaurant. This tour lasts for about 7 to 8 hours.
